Nous sommes envolés le samedi 9 mars en Angleterre afin d’assister à la soirée Hospitality Bristol qui s’est tenue au Motion Bristol et dont vous pouvez lire notre présentation ici. Plus de 20 artistes dans la capitale de la Drum & Bass : de quoi prédire une soirée mémorable.

À peine arrivés, déjà impressionnés 

Une pluie battante nous accueille devant le Motion Bristol avant le début des hostilités, mais rien qui n’entame l’enthousiasme des junglists anglais. Sur la rive de l’Avon, de grands bâtiments typiques en pierre se dressent devant nous et le son commence à se faire entendre, ou plutôt à vrombir.

Nous passons la porte d’entrée voûtée et découvrons une immense pièce centrale menant aux salles principales. C’est impressionnant, la pierre rend l’endroit un peu humide… mais ça, on a l’habitude ! On se dirige directement dans la salle principale, Motion, où Hugh Hardie a déjà commencé son set. La résonance de la salle est assez dingue, le son vibre littéralement sous nos pieds. Une haute passerelle qui fait le tour de la salle permet de prendre de la hauteur et de ressentir encore plus les basses (si cela est possible).

Des sets riches en émotions et en partage

Nous allons nous balader dans la deuxième grande salle, The Marble Factory, voir Nu:Tone b2b Logistics b2b Makoto et continuer de nous échauffer. Un des meilleurs moments de ce set restera pour nous celui où nous entendons Bluebird de Makoto x Hugh Hardie et où les lazers commencent à se montrer. Un peu avant la fin de leur set nous prenons le temps de passer voir Degs accompagné de Lens sur les decks : un moment de complicité avec le public qui connait toutes les paroles. Nous retiendrons la reprise de Killer, d’Adamski & Seal du MC qui nous a mis des frissons.

Nous restons ensuite dans la même salle pour voir Camo & Krooked avec un set digne de leur réputation. Puis, le manque d’espace dans une des petites salles, The Tunnel, ne nous permet pas de voir Whiney suivi d’Etherwood, les deux artistes auraient mérité plus de place pour leurs fans. On alterne alors entre un Danny Byrd explosif et des Kings Of The Rollers chauds bouillants. London Elektricity commence à 2h et nous livre un set toute en finesse : l’enchaînement To Build A Home/Just One Second (Apex Remix) nous a mis la larme à l’œil… Merci Chef ! Nous restons pour voir S.P.Y présentant son Dubplate Style, et offrant pendant son set un hommage vibrant à Keith Flint. Nous allons faire un petit coucou à Limited b2b Bou b2b Stompz ft. Bassman, quand même ! Puis Fred V, en solo, nous envoie un set qui aura réveillé les plus fatigués d’entre nous.

Il est temps pour nous de rentrer après cette journée et cette nuit riches en émotions. Le retour se fera la tête dans les nuages, au sens propre et au sens figuré !

We flew on Saturday 9^th of March to England to attend the Hospitality Bristol night for which we made a presentation that you can read here. Excitement is at its peak for our first Hospitality !

Barely arrived, already impressed

Driving rain is welcoming us when arriving at Motion Bristol, but nothing that weakens the enthousiasm of the English junglists ! Along the Avon river, large typical stone buildings are facing us, and we start hearing the music thruming.

We get past the entrance and find a huge central room leading to the main rooms. It’s impressive, and the stone walls make the place feel wet and heavy, but we’re used to it when partying ! We directly go to the main room, Motion, where Hugh Hardie has already started his set. The room resonance is incredible; the sound literally vibrates under our feet. A walkway that goes up and around the room allows us to see the place from another perspective, and to feel the bass even stronger.

Two keywords : emotions and sharing

We walk to the 2^nd main room, The Marble Factory, to see Nu:Tone, Logistics and Makoto‘s set and continue to warm ourselves up. One of the best highlight of this set for us was when we heard Makoto x Hugh Hardie – Bluebird, and started to see the lasers enlightening the place. Just before the end of their performance, we took a moment to go and see Degs with Lens on the decks: a great moment of complicity with the crowd who knew all the lyrics. We will remember for a long time the MC’s cover of the song Killer from Adamski & Seal, which gave us the chills !

We stayed in the same room to see Camo & Krooked  playing a set up their reputation. After their set, we went into one of the smaller rooms, The Tunnel, but we did not stay long in this area to see Whiney followed by Etherwood because of the lack of space and the amount of fans that wanted to see them.  Instead, we alternated between an explosive Danny Byrd and Kings of the Rollers who were on fire. London Elektricity started at 2am and offered us a very delicate set : the transition To Build A Home/ Just One Second (Apex Remix) almost made us cry… Thanks Boss ! We stayed to see S.P.Y introducing his Dubplate Style, and offering a vibrant homage to Keith Flint during his set. We took a sneak peek at Limited b2b Bou b2b Stompz ft. Bassman : banging ! To finish, Fred V, going solo, made a set that woke up the most tired of us.

It was time for us to get back home after this day and this night rich in emotions. We returned heads in the clouds, both literally and figuratively.
